Bummed me out. Calvin & Hobbes was and always will be the best comics.

Favorite lit. Saddest strip

I remember reading this strip when it came out which was 3 months after I had to start taking Ritalin in the 5th grade and just balling my eyes out.

This is depressing.

Can anyone point to verification that this is real? I don’t recall this strip, or recall Waterson ever being this defeatist. The text looks wrong, too.

In my memory (which is admittedly often faulty), the last Calvin & Hobbes strip ended on a Sunday, with a full-color strip of the duo on a sled ride down the hill; the last panel was Calvin saying, “Let’s go exploring.”
